The Advanced Micro Devices Z85C3016 is a CMOS serial I/O controller featuring two independent channels, each capable of asynchronous and synchronous communication. Supporting a maximum data transfer rate of 0.512 Mbps, this component is designed for operation within a -40°C to +85°C temperature range. It offers extensive communication protocol support including ASYNC, BIT, SYNC (BYTE, HDLC, SDLC), X.25, BISYNC, EXT SYNC, and ADCCP, along with multiple data encoding/decoding methods such as NRZ, NRZI, BIPH-MARK, BIPH-SPACE, and BIPH-LEVEL. The Z85C3016 includes two modem control I/Os that can be repurposed as general-purpose I/Os and a 10x19 frame status FIFO for enhanced data handling. Its bus compatibility extends to popular architectures including 8080, Z80, 6800, 68000, and various Intel microprocessors, as well as MULTIBUS. This device is housed in a 44-terminal ceramic chip carrier (CQCC44) package, suitable for surface mounting. Applications span industrial automation, networking, and telecommunications equipment.
